The Aeolian Islands are a group of seven small volcanic islands called Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, Panarea, Stromboli, Alicudi and Filicudi, which sit in the vicinity of Sicily. Two of the islands (Stromboli and Vulcano) are home to active volcanos, which are known to erupt regularly (Stromboli especially, which puts on a light show every 30 minutes or so). On Vulcano, you can take a sulfur mud bath, which is considered to be very good for your skin.

These islands offer beautiful scenery and natural landscape, as well as pretty villages, making a boat tour from Cefalu to the Aeolian Islands an excellent choice for a relaxing day out. We offer a range of tours to suit your preferences, including the following options.

Boat tour of the coast (departs from Cefalu)

Duration: 10 hours

This full-day tour begins with a pick up from your hotel in Cefalu for a transfer to the port at Milazzo, from where you can board an air-conditioned yacht. You will then be taken by boat to the island of Lipari, giving you time to admire the glorious coastal landscape and sea views as you travel. In Lipari, you can enjoy a guided tour of the fascinating archaeological area or have free time to explore the island at your own pace - there are several popular cafes and restaurants, as well as a shopping area.

The tour then continues to Vulcano, which is the site of an active volcano and so features thermal mud baths that you will have time to enjoy before reboarding the yacht for a relaxing boat ride back to Milazzo, where a coach will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cefalu.

Excursion to Stromboli (departs from Cefalu)

Duration: 15 hours (arrives back in Cefalu around midnight)

This part-coach and part-boat tour takes you to the famous island of Stromboli and begins with a pick up from your hotel in Cefalu and coach ride to the port, from where you can board an air-conditioned boat to Stromboli.

On Stromboli, you will be treated to a guided tour of the island so that you can learn more about its volcanic activity and the effect that this has had on the changing Sicilian landscape. You will have the option to stay until sunset, allowing you to fully appreciate the glorious beauty of this space in the world and then, on the boat ride back to Milazzo Port, you will be taken by Sciara del Fuoco so that you can see the spectacular nightly light show put on by Stromboli.
