Visit the unspoiled Sicilian hilltop towns made famous by Coppola's famous Godfather Trilogy

If you're a fan of the Godfather Trilogy or if you want to learn more about the history of the mafia in Sicily, then this is the perfect tour for you! This walking tour departs from Catania and visits the pretty and unspoiled hilltop towns of Savoca and Forza D'Agrò, where some of the immortal scenes from the Godfather Trilogy were filmed. It can be added to any of our custom-made Catania vacations, but note that it is seasonal, so please ask your personal travel adviser for advice regarding availability when you book your Catania vacation with us.

Tour itinerary

This tour departs from Catania and takes you first to Savoca, where you'll see the table where Michael asks Apollonia's father for her hand in marriage, the church where the wedding scene was filmed and Bar Vitelli, which is still run by the family who owned it at the time of filming. It now exhibits a collection of movie stills and is a must for any movie buff!

The tour then continues in Forza D'Agrò, where Al Pacino showed Diane Keaton the house where his father was born. Putting the movie sites aside, this village is charmingly pretty and overlooks the Castle of Capo Sant'Alessio, which you may recognize from other famous films as it has in fact starred in a number of movies thanks to its quaint architecture. As a part of this tour, you will enjoy a walk through the village of Forza D'Agrò, stopping at the central piazza, the ancient village steps and a crumbling arch, which leads to a beautiful church, where some scenes from Godfather III were shot.
